      May Peace Prevail on Earth

      In remembrance of all those affected and who tragically lost their lives in the WWII bombings of Hiroshima August 6, 1945 and Nagasaki August 9, 1945, we pray, “never again.”

      This post is to offer witness for peace in the world and the elimination of all stockpiles of nuclear weapons. We acknowledge the dangers of nuclear proliferation, and advocate for peace and environmental sustainability. We believe another world is possible, a world void of nuclear weapons with their devastating and long lasting effects on human life in the world and all forms of life on the earth.

      God of Peace, we acknowledge that we are capable of destroying the earth and all that dwell therein. Forgive us and help us to always remember all those who perished and suffered in Hiroshima and Nagasaki 75 years ago. We must remember because this must never happen again. You call us to live joyfully and in harmony with one another.

      Lead us from death to life;
      From fear to open heart;
      From despair to hope;
      From darkness to light;
      From hate to love;
      Lead us to peace.

      We pray for the healing of the earth and all of its peoples, especially those upon whom nuclear bombs fell. Help us to imagine another world where nuclear destruction does not threaten us. Guide our actions towards the peace you envision for us. Teach us your way of compassion.
      Amen.
